About Us
The Shalom Chorale is a group of sensational singers with a passion for music and faith in God. In times like these, when news of uncertainty, fear and rumours of war seem to dominate our world, we feel there is a need for peace, hence our name Shalom Chorale.
Under the baton of our Director, Dr Oluwafemi Ayodeji who is assisted by his lovely wife - Olaide Ayodeji, we made our debut TV appearance on the 2018 ‘BBC Gospel Choir of the Year’ competition, judged by choir supremos - Gareth Malone, Karen Gibson and singer-actor, Shaun Escoffery; and we emerged winners! Shortly after then, in December, we made our debut live radio performance on BBC Radio London where we also recorded some live music for the festive season. As part of an exciting last few months in 2018, we appeared as the headline act for Christian Aid UK’s ‘Gospel Christmas’ concert and partnered with charitable organisations such as Robes UK and Look Ahead Hackney Road Project in fundraising and support.
Our 2019 highlights included receiving the Bazil Meade 'Award for Choral Excellence' in Manchester, recording live performances for BBC Songs of Praise in Bolton, headlining the Good Friday concert 'Dark Sacred Nights' at Union Chapel, London, and performing at the UK premiere screening of Aretha Franklin's iconic live album recording movie 'Amazing Grace'. We have since gone on to being Semi-finalists at ‘Britain's Got Talent’, released a PRS supported Debut Album titled “King Jesus”, curated worship experience within and outside the UK, including Beyond Music Worship Experience.
We are available to sing at TV recordings, film screenings, music festivals, concerts and workshops, fundraising events, church events, corporate events, weddings, and special ceremonies. Our team earnestly look forward to catching up with you sometime soon, wherever you are!
Membership
Our members come from different geographic regions in the UK. We come from all works of life but are united by our singular passion for sharing the gospel of Christ through music! We are blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of this community of singers who use their musical talents to express our faith in God; as well as sharing the peace, hope, love, and joy it brings with our listeners, whenever and wherever we can.
Repertoires
Our repertoires are mainly Christian music, and they vary quite a lot - from classic hymns, to choral works, African American spirituals, Contemporary Christian music, African Art music, traditional African spirituals, and our own original compositions.
Community
Shalom Chorale isn’t all about the music alone, it is a community of friends who care for and look out for each other through thick and thin. We are committed to supporting each other and building lifelong relationships that extend beyond the rehearsal room.
